Living it Up: Bangalore

From Indiranagar to Koramangala, this green city is brimming with trendy watering holes, cafes, microbreweries and rooftop bars. Don’t let the 11:00 PM deadline dampen your spirits – especially with the city’s gorgeous, breezy weather that works its charm all year round. Here’s where to take your special someone in the ‘Luru’.

Om Made Café

A windswept space, candle-lit tables and green foliage are only a few reasons why this quaint café is a hit with locals. “For me, Om Made Cafe is the perfect early evening/late afternoon date spot. They’re great hosts, serve health-conscious dishes and have a fabulous wine selection. The ambience totally lifts a first date,” says Trisha. Gents, here’s where you impress your lady: away from the chaos and crowd.

Fenny’s Lounge and Kitchen

“A fun date venue for not-so-quiet souls? This is it!” she laughs. Trisha is in love with this lively nightspot in the heart of Koramangala. It serves up a delicious, multi-cuisine menu, served in landscaped terraces surrounded by 100-year-old Bonsai trees. She recommends anything on the barbeque menu or a piping hot wood-fired pizza to get things going.

Lazy Suzy

Think you can’t miss the bright, sunny yellow-and-blue façade? You’re wrong. If you haven’t been here before, this hidden gem often remains unseen, so don’t give up looking for it. “If you’re meeting for brunch or an early evening coffee, the owner-cum-chef whips up some fantastic food. I always order an espresso and Lazy Suzy Deli, their signature breakfast dish,” suggest Abhishek. With its vibrant, cute interiors and ample space for meaningful conversation – it’s perfect first date material.

The Permit Room

It’s a different kind of pub. There’s an eclectic menu, funky artwork (think kitschy animal portraits and quirky posters) and a stunning terrace bar. Abhishek says, “They make great whisky cocktails and have lip smacking bar appetizers. If you’re engrossed in super conversation, just order more rounds of everything, so you don’t have to worry about what to get for mains – especially if your date is a distraction.” Wink, wink.

Olive Beach

Nestled amongst gigantic trees in an off-road city block, Olive Beach offers privacy and a subtle, rustic ambience that everyone loves at the end of a long day. We’re fans of the Santorini-in-the-summer vibe – so cozy up with your sweetheart over Mediterranean tapas and their mean sangria (it really is the best in the city). If you’re a romantic at heart, this place is half your job done.
